How to play

  1. Start with rows or columns whose clue is 0 or equal to the grid size. Those lines are fully decided right away.
  2. Mark cells you know must stay empty with ×. It is much easier to solve a puzzle when both information types are on the board.
  3. On Normal and Hard the 'no three same in a row' rule applies. Two filled or two empty cells in a line force the third cell.
  4. If you get stuck, the hint button locks one correct cell for you. Use sparingly to keep the puzzle fun.

Daily Grid Logic — a quiet daily puzzle

Daily Grid Logic is a deduction puzzle in the spirit of classic number-clue grids, written from scratch for New.gg. Each row and column shows the exact count of filled tiles in that line. Your job is to figure out which cells are filled and which stay empty. On Normal and Hard the rule of three kicks in: no row or column may contain three of the same state in a line. That single extra rule sharpens the puzzle and turns small clues into firm conclusions.

A new puzzle unlocks every day at midnight UTC. Everyone playing on the same calendar day sees the same grid, so you can compare times and streaks with friends. There is also an unlimited practice mode, which keeps the same rules but uses a fresh random seed every round. Use practice to learn the patterns and the daily for the streak.

How to think about it

Almost every Daily Grid puzzle can be cracked by combining two pieces of information at once. The row clue tells you how many filled cells a row needs. The column clues, together, tell you which cells in that row are most constrained. When a column's clue is already at its limit, every other cell in that column must be empty. Mark those with × and the row you are working on usually collapses.

The "no three in a row" rule is doing a lot of quiet work. If you have two filled cells touching in a line, the cell next to them must be empty. If you have two empty cells touching, the next cell must be filled. This is often enough to unblock a section that looks ambiguous.

Streaks, hints and sharing

Streaks are kept locally in your browser. The site does not require an account. If you solve the puzzle two days in a row, your streak counter ticks up. Miss a day and it resets. The hint button locks one correct cell for you at the cost of a move. The share button produces a short emoji string with your time and an obscured grid, so you can post it without spoiling the answer.

Frequently asked questions

Does everyone get the same daily puzzle?

Yes. The puzzle is seeded from the calendar date, so every player sees the same grid on the same day.

What happens if I miss a day?

Your streak resets. You can still play any future day and start a new streak right away.

Why three difficulty sizes?

5×5 is a quick warm-up. 6×6 is the default daily. 7×7 is a stretch challenge with the strict 'no three same' rule.

Where is my progress saved?

On your device, in browser localStorage. Clearing site data clears your streak and best times.
